Summer Feels! So much feels~ A Recap

Last Sunday, April 30, UP Town Center was packed with people drowning in feels. Am I more coherent now? I’m not sure. But I will try to remember as much as I can.

Yup! It was #AprilFeelsDay2017 and we launched our #romanceclass anthology Summer Feels there. Yay!

Let me just tell you that the kilig over our book launch and the live readings, the energy of the people…grabe. It was chaos. Emotions ran wild…okay, contained naman daw. But the whole day was really just surreal for me.

These are some of the books on display. The numbers on the books are heat levels. Oh yes. We have up to heat level 4 yata. Haha!~ You should try all the levels. We must cover all our bases, ‘di ba? ☺

Aren’t they gorgeous?

Shelves full of yummy stories! ~

Too many pretties to buy. Sadly, I didn’t have a big budget kaya ayun…super konti lang ang haul ko. I’m going to show it to you later.

This was how the event looked like.

Our books!!!! They looked so great. We spent the first hours before the launch signing our names. Yes, feeling totoong writer. Lol. I truly loved looking at our books. It made the whole thing true and that was when I felt that, “Oh my god, I am a writer!”

This was where the live readings would be staged. There were a lot of readings. I couldn’t keep up because I did some ~stuff. Haha! No really. So I only took some pictures.

Our readers who brought to life the characters in the books. They were really awesome. Ah…and Fred is new. Haha. So he was kind of nervous. But he delivered a great performance. And managed to sweep some, if not most of the girls, off their feet.

The enthralled crowd. Too many feels to process…haha!~

The live readings performed had some firsts for the event. We had an M/M and F/F reading for the first time. It was a very delightful experience. Especially since I wrote an M/M story in the #SummerFeels Anthology. The title is The Search for the Kissing Monster. If you want to read it, I’ll give you the links where you can buy our book.
My dream is for my story to be read aloud like this. And for the actors to breathe life into my boys. ^^

Pic Credit to Ms Liana Smith Bautista but I grabbed this from ate Yeyet. Haha

Picture of me and my co-author H. Bentham. We looked so happy ano?

My co-author Kit Salazar. Signing autographs was a joy…hehe.

And there you have it. Ah, I bought books for my collection. I can’t wait to read them. ❤

My copies. Ah. They all look so good. How would they look like on my shelf?

Like this. 😙💖

And that was it!~ The day was a fun-filled adventure for me. It was the first time I was published, the first time I signed books (wow!), and the first time I called myself and author.

This could not have been possible if not for Ms. Liana Smith Bautista. She’s the driving force behind the project. And I am very blessed for the chance to work with her.

Also, I am most grateful to my co-authors. Guys, we made it! Here’s to more books and stories in the future. Aja! To the #romanceclass family for being so supportive and awesome. Thanks for the feels guys. And of course to the fairy Godmother of the group, Ms Mina V. Esguerra. Super thankful to have met you. I can’t believe how you were able to do all of this but I am in awe of your energy and dedication.

And like I said earlier, I will post the links where you can buy our book.

That’s it! That was the Summer Feels Anthology launch as I remembered it. Haha! #AprilFeelsDay2017 happens only once a year, the first time I was there I was just a participant who was very eager to read good books written by Filipino authors.

Now, I am an author too. And it just feels freaking exciting. ~

#SummerFeels Blog Tour: Top 5 Summer Foods featuring Arlene Manocot  + Giveaway

Blog Tour for the Summer Feels Anthology is happening. ~ Yay!

The tour has started today! Get ready for the feels. ~

To start off, I will be featuring an author from the anthology.

I’ve met Arlene Manocot in one of the #romanceclass events. She was very accommodating in signing books and she spoke in a soft  voice. But this girl can write heartfelt poems and conjure up a mean fantasy romance story.

In this anthology, she wrote Beachin’ Summer. To get you an idea, here’s what it’s about.

“Beachin’ Summer”

Childhood friends Summer and Jesse head to the beach after a traumatic incident leaves Jesse in need of a little rest and relaxation. He’s looking forward to catching up on his reading, and while she isn’t as avid a reader, she can’t help but be drawn in by his enthusiasm. When he shares his love of indie-published romance with her, she can’t help but wonder if he might be inspired to turn fictional love into something real.

Sounds intriguing? Better check her story out.~

Well,  since it is summer in our country and we love food, I have asked Arlene for her list of Top 5 Summer Foods to beat the summer heat.

Maybe she’s found the inspiration to write because of these yummy desserts. ☺I know I would.

Arlene said:

My top 5 fave food to beat summer heat, yah!

1. Halo-halo

Specially the one served at a Chinese fast-food chain, I loooove it! It’s so creamy and there’s a lot of going on in your cup. The fast-food chain is so generous when it comes to their fillings. Love it so much!

2. Chocolate ice cream

Who wouldn’t crave ice cream this summer season? I like it and I know it sounds cliche, but it’s my all time favorite flavor. Anything that has chocolate in it, should be edible of course.

3. Green Kalabaw mango with alamang

Refreshing acid taste from the fruit and the salty alamang, gah! I can eat all day until my lips turn pale. Haha.

4. Watermelon

Sweet and watery taste of watermelon, it’s the perfect alternative thirst buster for a plain water.

5. Milk tea

Wintermelon and Jasmine are my favorite flavor. And I get at Sediento, it is the place to be whenever I crave for milk tea.

Yum! Everything is so delish, believe me. Summer in the Philippines is scorching. We really need to cool down. Hope you can try these desserts to quench the summer heat.
Thank you to Arlene for sharing with us her Top 5 Summer Foods list.

The Newbie Writer’s Journey

Deep breath.

I’ve written something.

And it got published.

Yay!

I’ve been harping on and on about putting my work out in the world but got little to show for it. But last February  (or was it January?) I finally finished a story. I submitted it for an anthology and it got through!

It’s a summer anthology. Meaning lots of sun, beaches and hot adventure.

At first, it hasn’t really sunk in. I was still in disbelief. You know,  being a noob and stuff. But as the days went, more confirmation happened.

I am indeed a published author now.

Wow.

Let me just take a breath again to process that. Alright. Processed. Still….kyaaaaa!

Ahem. So the thing is…the anthology will be launched this April 30th. Along with all the great indie writers in #romanceclass. I am so excited to finally be able to say that I have something to share with everyone.

I will be posting more about it later. My small amateur author self is still overwhelmed. Sorry. But for now, I’ll leave you with the anthology’s pretty pretty book cover.

Can I just say that I freaking love it!? I love it!

Waiting In The Wings by Tara Frejas: A Review

Waiting In The Wings by Tara Frejas : A Review

Okay. Here’s the thing. I know when I read a #romanceclass book that I will have another book boyfriend. It’s just inevitable. And when I read this book I was very surprised. Because I didn’t have just one book boyfriend, I got two! What the heck Ramon and Pio! It’s sooo hard to choose between you. So I won’t. Everybody happy.

Anyway, I have to make a review about this wonderful book so I’ll save the fangirling later. Oh and this could have spoilers.

The story is about Erin. A very talented young actress who wants to explore love outside the stage. It’s a reasonable venture actually because she hasn’t been very lucky in finding love.

Enter Ramon who is her most awesome and loyal friend. She is very happy to work together with a friendly and familiar face but Ramon is secretly harboring feelings for her. While Erin is oblivious to Ramon’s feelings another very attractive actor in the form of Pio enters the scene and makes his move. And this is how their love story begins.

I’ve always loved theater especially musicals. That’s why this book is a very welcome addition to my collection.

What I like in the book is the behind the scenes life in every actor’s life on stage. I appreciate all the time, effort and dedication every person in a production gives to give the audience the best performance every time. And I saw it in this book. So it’s like a backstage pass for me.

I like that the book managed to encapsulate the action and drama going on in making a show and telling the love story.

Erin and Ramon’s love story is simple. They are friends who should become lovers. But feelings are not always simple. And people involved tend to complicate things as they try to figure out their emotions. Especially if there’s someone who is offering another love story to them.

What I like most in this book is how each character’s emotions are highlighted. I became fond of Ramon because he’s such a sweetheart in his unrequited love for Erin. He suffers but it’s okay. Ugh. The feels! I wanted to give him a hug whenever he felt hurt by a clueless Erin.

I adore Erin because she’s a very sweet and caring friend to Ramon. But this same caring and sweetness became Ramon’s punishment and reward in a way. So there are times when I wanted to pinch her just to get her to notice him. Huhu.

And of course, Pio. Hay, Pio. What do I need to do to get you? Haha! Seriously, this guy needs a book of his own. I just can’t see him without his own love story. Paging Tara. Pio next pretty please.

When I was tweeting I mentioned that I cried when Erin and Ramon sang together. It’s because the lyrics and their emotions are so raw and present that I couldn’t help but feel with them. Very powerful. And it’s very magical. I can see the movie version now.

Overall, reading this book is a delightful experience. It gave me different emotions that I found so believable. I laughed, I cried, I got annoyed and frustrated. But all the while, I felt love. And I think that’s how a good love story should be told. We all need love and love is all around. We just need to let it meet us.
